Original drawing in ink and pencil on smooth white paper from a specimen in Bristol Museum & Art Gallery natural history collection. Using a microscope, I was fascinated to see the tiny hairs that are invisible to the naked eye, and the subtle iridescence. The Onthophagus beetle is on the fresh dung in the very foreground of the Dungscape diurnal canvas. Available ready to frame, 29×29cm.

Drawn in preparation for Amit’s oil portrait, commissioned by the Centre for Appearance Research. These two original drawings are in coloured pencil on kraft paper. They were done to compare and contrast the options to accentuate or downplay Amit’s visible difference in the context of the portrait. Click here to see Amit’s reaction to these portraits during the livestream. Both pictures are framed with a deep profile mount card and simple oak frame. They can be purchased individually or as a pair.
There are plenty birds of prey around Prawle Point, and my guess is that this rabbit was accidentally dropped. Unblemished, but definitely an ex-rabbit, it appeared on the path while we were drawing. I couldn’t resist sketching it in situ, on Kraft paper (like brown parcel paper). Available ready to frame, A3 size.
From high up looking down to the sea at Prawle Point, It was a beautiful day, but so windy up there I decided to give up on oils, and use coloured pencils on heavyweight Strathmore toned paper. My eye was caught by the coastal path wending its way past ancient orthostats (stone boundary markings that look like teeth), and a modern stone mound made by walkers. Salcombe Sands are just visible in the distance. Available ready to frame, A3 size.

The same size and media as the associated piece ‘HermAphrodites II’ (selected for the Society of Wildlife Artists Annual Open exhibition 2024), showing the incredible mating process of common garden snails. Professionally framed in a discrete co-ordinated wood frame, with non-reflective UV-protective Art Glass. It is uneconomical to transport this size framed, so please enquire about transport, collection.

I wanted to revel in the different colours and textures of the snails, shells, and the reflected sky in the slime. This is the same size and media as the associated piece ‘Bouquet’, a fictitious account of slug romance, heavily influenced by two particular garden visitors.
Individually, and as a pair, they make a strong statement, and a great conversation-starter!

Oil pastel and ink in a narrow black wood frame
This portrait took 3 hours to draw, from life during my time at the historic “Academie de la Grande Chaumiere” in Paris. It was later exhibited there, and is on pure white paper. It is on A3 sized paper
I sat with the family in an outdoor cafe, sketching this beautiful old bridge, while the swans meandered underneath. This original pencil drawing is on off-white paper.

A collection of original drawings, notes, and a linocut. When open, over 2m long. Observed from selected specimens from the UK cow dung ecosystem, mostly in Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, and London natural history collections. The images in the sketchbook are used as source material for Dungscape.
Although this is a 3D object, it comes with a matching black fabric coated hard cover for storage. When closed it is A5 size, approximately 15×22×3cm.
This item is committed for exhibition in London, as part of The Society of Wildlife Artists annual show. If purchased, it will be posted in mid October when that show is finished. Having been exhibited at this prestigious juried show will contribute to the provenance of the sketchbook.
