Blue fabric tied with string (framed)

This oil painting on canvas is done using a traditional technique called glazing. Favoured by Leonardo, Van Eyck, and many others, glazing is a great way to show light catching the folds in intensely coloured fabric. I love the slightly abstract nature of crumpled fabric or paper, contrasted with a familiar, unremark piece of string. The glossy rich black background sets the fabric off, with a slightly surreal intensity. The painted area is 43x34 cm. Professionally set in a solid wood frame, this would look amazing with a spotlight to bring out the radiance of the intense blue fabric. See the video for a step-by-step demonstration of this painting being made.
