The eponymous artwork of the Dungscape project, this pair of framed oil paintings uses traditional oil painting techniques to capture a rewilded landscape. Set at Knepp wilding estate, the diurnal and nocturnal canvases stand as individual compositions, and connect visually into a single scene. The flora and fauna that are the ecosystem around healthy dung are celebrated and described. From the tiniest parasitoid wasp laying into a fly larva in old dung to the bat catching a dung beetle on the wing. There is a page of information here, and a YouTube playlist of process videos. Each painting is 120×90cm oil on canvas, with minimal solid wood tray frame in a sympathetic colour. These pieces are available for sale, although committed for exhibition in Knepp and London (Society of Wildlife Artists annual exhibition). This adds prestige to the provenance of the pieces, and can be seen as adding value. So they will be available for collection from London (The Mall Galleries) or Bristol (my studio) from mid October.
