Painted alla prima (in one go, straight onto primed canvas) from life, beach-fresh, in Devon. I love how the glossy seaweed draped over the plate edge, and the melamine of the caravan table seemed a ubiquitous feature of the holiday, that needed to feature in this painting for realism!
The image extends around the deep sides, as it is wrapped round a hidden wooden frame - so you can enjoy it from the side too, no framing required!
