Based on the butterfly, rove beetles and sepsidae flies in Dungscape. This linocut is hand cut, hand inked, printed using a vintage ‘Vandercook’ semi-automated press, on pure white heavyweight acid free artist quality paper, using 6 separately inked blocks, which takes forever… so a very limited edition of 20 is available.
Each print is individually numbered, titled, and signed. Because of the process, each is slightly different, with characteristic imperfections of hand printing. This is indicated by the standard acronym ‘VE’ which - Variable Edition.
Sold loose for you to frame yourself, or there is a single framed version with solid wood frame (with gallery quality non-reflective UV protective glass) available from the Knepp exhibition. The printed image is approximately 33×40cm (including title), with a wide margin (10cm+) that can be trimmed for framing.
The edition consists of 20 prints (numbered 1-20) and 3 Artist’s Proof prints (traditionally marked ‘AP’, or ‘EA’ if you’re a French printer!). Artist’s proofs typically differ slightly from the 20 in some way and are more unique. Some people consider these more interesting, some think the differences are un-noticeable, and some prefer prints from the main edition. The artist’s proofs are marked ‘AP’, instead of n/20.
There are some already printed, the rest of the edition will be printed when I can next get time on the Vandercook press, in September. Because the black block is printed with oil based ink, please allow 2 weeks drying time. Free UK postage and packaging included.
If you want to choose a particular copy from those already printed, mention this on the ‘anything I should know’ field at checkout. If not, I will choose for you from the set.
