Still lifes and collections
I am increasingly drawn to still life, for the exploration of texture, shape, composition, and the expression of ideas through anthropomorphism. When painting figures it’s useful to have had some practice painting ‘stuff’. They have the added bonus of remaining reasonably still, so it’s rare not to paint from life. I love sketching and painting collections. They can embody a place, a life, or a person’s absorbing interest. A work of art can also be a way of preserving a memory of a collection if it needs to be let go. Where available, these images link through to my online shop. Please contact me for unlisted available work.
